It is the largest and most important and developed urban, financial, cultural and administrative center of the country. It was founded by the Spanish conquestor Pedro de Valdivia, on February 12, 1541, and was chosen because of its moderate climate and by the Mapocho River.
With many historical and cultural attractions, museums, palaces, belvederes, shows, intense nightlife, shopping, among others, became, especially after the economic boom of the 1990s, a great tourist option.
The new and elegant residential neighborhoods, large parks and squares, shopping malls and “Sanhattan”, modern and vertical financial center of Santiago, show the cosmopolitan side of the city.
It is also less than 100 km from the coast and ski resorts, and some of Chile’s most important and traditional wineries are located very close to the Maipo, Casablanca and Conchagua Valleys.
